Hilltop Angus annually awards a scholarship heifer in memory of Ben Thompson.  The scholarship will be presented to someone 13 to 21 years of age who wishes to continue their education in an agricultural field or plan to take an active roll in their own cattle operation.  The scholarship heifer can be sold at an upcoming  Pee Dee River Valley Bull Sale, where the heifer will be presented, with the proceeds going toward their educational expenses or the recipient may choose to keep the heifer to use in their own cattle operation.       Ben had a big part in helping make this sale a success and had much interest in the cattle production here at Hilltop Angus. It is in his memory that we wish to present the scholarship that might spark an interest in a young person to continue in an agricultural related field.  Ben is the son of Sharon and Dale Thompson who died on May 16, 2001.
